Dental Implants are the best solution to many of the dental issues that we face today. Whether you are missing one tooth, have a failing bridge/denture or would like to reconstruct your smile to it’s strongest and most natural/beautiful state, Dental Implants are the best option available today. As opposed to traditional bridgework, which requires the destruction of the natural tooth structure in order to provide support for a false tooth, Dental Implants are a more conservative solution to tooth replacement.
The stability that Dental Implants provide will restore your ability to eat and enjoy food prior to tooth and bone loss.
The Basic Implant Process
A Dental Implant functions just like a natural tooth. Dr. First will begin by inserting a titanium Dental Implant (root structure) into the socket. You will then heal for approximately 3-4 months. When you are healing, the implant will integrate with your bone in a process called Osseointegration. During this process, the bone and the ridges of the implant form a bond, keeping the foundation of your new tooth strongly in place. After you heal, Dr. First will place the abutment (post) and crown on top of the implant.
Dental Implant success rates are currently up to 98%. Due to the technological advances over the last 25 years in implant design and surgical techniques, Dental Implant surgery has become extremely safe and the current standard of care for tooth replacement.
Teeth in an Hour
In many cases, Dr. First will be able to provide you with Teeth in an Hour, also known as Immediate Temporary Restoration. After your implant surgery visit/procedure, Dr. First will insert a custom lab processed temporary, which will match your teeth. This will allow you to leave our office feeling confident and comfortable until Dr. First is able to place the final restoration after you heal. With the use of this technique, our patients no longer have to wear a temporary denture, even for a short period of time.
In cases where teeth are beyond saving through root canal or other means, Surgical Extractions are required in order to replace failing teeth.
Dr. First employs the latest advanced techniques for minimally invasive tooth removal.
Implant Supported Dentures
Implant Supported Dentures allow you to affordably regain confidence when you have a full arch of missing teeth. Implant Supported Dentures are superior to ordinary dentures, because they are held in the mouth by strategically placed implants, which act as strong anchors underneath the denture. The results of this stability are more pleasurable eating experiences and a better overall esthetic result. Implant Supported Dentures also eliminate the need to use adhesives (e.g. Fixodent).
Implant Supported Bridges
Implant Supported Bridges are a solution when you are missing 3 or more adjacent teeth along an arch. Implant Supported Bridges are a permanent solution for natural esthetics and function.
With the evolution of modern Bone Grafting technology, virtually any patient is a candidate for Dental Implants. When teeth are removed or when a patient has been wearing a denture for an extended period of time, the bone shrinks, and is often inadequate for successful implant placement. After careful examination of your mouth, Dr. First will discuss any necessary Bone Grafting procedure that might be necessary to develop the bone, in order to accept the implant successfully for longevity and esthetics.
